England Beats Ireland 2-0 in Nations League:-
But we start with the football and England have beaten the Republic of Ireland 2- nil in their Nations League clash in Dublin both England’s goal scorers Dean rice and Jack greish represented the Republic of Ireland at Youth Level with rice also winning three caps for the senior side Ireland started strongly and unmarked Jason malumi heading over from six yards but 11 minutes in Harry Kane’s shot was blocked.
Rice and Grealish: From Ireland to England:-
Rice swept in the opener rice who has Irish grandparents and played in three friendlies for the Republic in 2018 refused to celebrate Kane was thed again before greish who represented the Republic of isand at Youth Level scored England second unlike rice he celebrated enthusiastically.
A Scrappy Second Half:-
The second half was scrappier both managers making several changes as kley gave debuts to Morgan Gibbs white and Angel Gomez Kaio saaka had a stoppage time effort saved as the game ended 1 nil kley starting his Reign and England’s Nation League campaign with a win obviously there’s been so much talk um from what I’ve heard from Greg this week and Andy about a lot of people in the media talking obviously about me and Jack and um obviously Lee but to come here today and you know just to play um enjoy that environment you know .
Declan Rice Reflects on His Performance:-
I really enjoyed it and to score and obviously getting assist for Jack as well I was really really happy to be honest with you I’ve not been feeling 100% fit so far kind of been using my Premier my preseason in the Premier League um but today I feel like I took a real step I could feel it within myself I was feeling back to myself um being feeling springy you know feeling like I can run around the pitch uh feeling more powerful so it was on a personal note it was really good to to to get that game into there and play 90.
Rice’s Respect for Ireland:-
Because I feel like I took another step which is obviously going to help me at Arsenal what sha through was the respect you showed ireland we know how much this this country means to you even though you’re an England player you didn’t celebrate your goal and I think Harry Kane tried to give you the band at the end and you you you said you should give that to JN Stones as well yeah yeah um yeah obviously my well look my n and Granddad my dad’s side of the family are all Irish they’re obviously passed away they’re not here anymore so I think to to have celebrated it would have been really disrespectful me with them obviously not being here anymore and uh with them being my dad’s parents .
A Leadership Gesture by Kane:-
I didn’t want to do that to be honest with you obviously had such an amazing time playing for Ireland um even in the first team the under 19s and 21s you know they were great memories that lived with me um so look I don’t have a bad word to say to be honest with you wish them all the best like I always do with anyone and yeah Harry Kane obviously tried to give me the arm band but obviously Stones is probably more senior and experienced than me and um yeah I just said to Harry probably John deserves it more than me particularly the first half .
England’s Potential Under Carsley:-
I thought that they they they really got out the traps and and asked questions early on to Ireland you know he actually delivered what he said he was going to do lee carsley by you know trying to get a more effective front players on the board which he did I think what what impressed me more so is that I seen a lot more movement than what I’ve seen under Gareth really to be quite honest in that forward line as in you know the liks of sacka coming inside fullbacks pushing on I think what what excites me more is that listen this isn’t our our full potential here by any stretch um it’s a great start for England and a great start for Lee uh more so and I think we need to get behind his ideas for sure um you know again.
I think we’ve got the likes of Bellingham foden to come back into the cion Gordon had a very good game uh Jack was brilliant uh in the game and all of a sudden I’m starting to like what I’m seeing it’s a watchable thing which I think all the fans and all of us that sit and watch the England games we want that excitement um and we want to win games and we’ve had a clean sheet.
Controversy Over Carsley Not Singing National Anthems:-
I think lots of boxes have been ticked and I think there’s more to come there was some controversy before kickoff when Lee Carley who played 40 times for Ireland said he wouldn’t sing the English national anthem gley also pointed out he didn’t sing the Irish anthem when he was a player either and Dean rice says his new interim manager has his full support .
I know he played 40 times obviously for Ireland um obviously that meant a lot to him in his career now he’s England manager obviously I can’t call for what um he wants to do all I know is that from us from a set of lads we’ve been so impressed with him this week he’s been so refreshing um his meetings have been top really to the point and the way we play and train is really different so look I think all the lads are really really happy with him obviously we had such an amazing time with Gareth only thing was missing was obviously we didn’t win a trophy in our time butly with Lee now I think he’s adapted so well to the job and I think he’s given a lot of lads you know a lot of confidence
