Affordable Flip and Foldable Phones: A Game-Changer:-
I’m happy about 1 thing. 2 years ago, Flipable & Foldable phones were priced above Rs 1 Lakh. But now you’re getting different options under Rs 50K. Now this Razr 50 is also going to be priced under Rs 50K & it does offer a lot of flagship level features. But what I’m happy about is, the form factor of Flipable & Foldable. Even the common people can buy this phone & I’m very happy about that.
Box Contents:-
Black box with Razr 50 written on it. First comes the documentation & sim card tool. The case comes in the box & it’s a nice hard case. This is the phone. It’s a tall phone. If I hold it like this, it looks like a normal candy bar phone. What else is there in the box? There’s a 33W charger & USB Type A to Type C charging cable.That’s it for the box contents.
Design and Build:-
It’s a 2 part case. It’s a bright orange colour. Nice! Very nice! It’s a good quality case. Let’s look at the phone. It’s a vegan leather design & it’s a thin phone. It’s a one hand test.
Oh, it’s easy! You’ll have to practice a little but it’s easy in the first try. It’s easy in the first try. Let me try with the thumb. This is also easy! The weight is 180.3g .But for a foldable phone, it’s decent. It’s 190.5g . Ports & Buttons There are 2 microphones on the bottom.
It’s a USB Type C speaker grill.
Ports and Buttons:-
There’s a power on off button on the side & it doubles up as a side mounted fingerprint sensor. There are volume up & down buttons. There are 2 microphones on the top & there’s a sim card tray on the left. There’s a metal frame & you can see the antenna lines clearly.
Oh, this is satisfying! This is a lifestyle phone. It’s not for gaming or camera centric. It’s a lifestyle phone. When you take it out & open it in front of people, they’ll ask you. They’ll definitely look at you. Before we move on, we’ll do your favourite segment of dropping phones. Gorilla Glass Victus comes with protection.
The sim card tray & then I’ll tell you about the specifications. And what do I think about this phone. Do wait for it as this is a very interesting offering. It’s base variant is 256GB. So it’s basically a single sim card slot.It looks like a dual sim card slot. But it supports dual sims. 1 eSIM & 1 physical sim.
Display A Big Upgrade:-
Let’s talk about the displays. If I compare it with the Razer 40, it’s really upgraded. It’s 3.6” P-OLED display. But if I compare it with the 50 Ultra, it’s 4” with a 3.6” display.
It has a 90Hz display & it has 10-11 panels. You know what, it’s very useful. I’ll show you. You can add apps to these panels. You can use their games too. For example, there’s a calendar, weather & apps. There’s a games panel too. There’s a panel for Sajid Stocks. And then you have music, timer, stopwatch, widgets.
So it’s a very useful display. And as I said, it’s 3.6” with a decent size. And yes, it’s an OLED display. If I talk about the internal display, you’ll know if you look at it close to the phone. It’s a very tall display of 6.9”. It’s the biggest display in a flip phone.
Rest, it has 6.7” & 6.9” displays. And this is a 120Hz P-OLED display. It supports HDR10+. For multimedia, you’re going to enjoy it. You’re going to enjoy watching the widescreen. Because it’s a bright display too. Peak brightness of 3000 nits. If I talk about the upper display, it has a brightness of 1700 nits.
And the colour is accurate too. It has 120% DCI-P3. It has a 10-bit display. So you can see 1 billion colours. So in terms of display, it’s very good. Comes with an adaptive refresh rate. It’s an LTPO display, so it changes from 1Hz to 120Hz.
Performance and Specifications:-
Alright, let’s talk about specifications. It comes with Dimensity 7300X.
Now you’ll ask what’s X? X has a few extra features. I’m going to talk about the AI features. It supports dual display. It generally comes with 7300 in Candy Bar, but it doesn’t have dual display. So X supports dual display & it’s optimized. And the camera’s ISP is also much better.
It comes with only 1 variant of 8GB RAM & 256GB storage. And it has LPDDR4X RAM type & UFS 2.2 storage type. It should’ve been UFS 3.1 here.
If I talk about AnTuTu score, it’s around 6.3L. It’s not a gaming phone. But you can easily play 60FPS gaming. We also played it & it runs smoothly.
Battery and Charging:-
And if I talk about the battery, it’s increased compared to Razer 40. It had 4000mAh, now it has 4200mAh. It has a 33W adapter, it supports 30W. It also supports 15W wireless charging. Razer 40 had 5W wireless charging & this has 15W. So that’s good. For this form factor & display size, I think 4200mAh is decent enough.
If it’s too heavy, you’ll have to charge it in the evening. Otherwise, you’ll be able to use it for a day. Another thing about the 7300, we’ve seen it in different phones. It’s a very stable & power efficient processor. Even in CPU throttle, the phone doesn’t get too hot. So it’s 78-80% in CPU throttle test, which I think is quite decent.
It doesn’t get too hot, so 7300 is good in that regard.
Good Multimedia Experience:-
I talked about the multimedia, but I forgot to mention 1 thing. The audio is good, for such a small form factor. The audio quality & speakers are a little big. The audio is good & the volume is also quite good. You can stream full HD on Netflix, watch HDR videos on YouTube.
So you’ll enjoy multimedia, especially the 6.9” display. It has side mounted fingerprint sensor, face unlock & it works well. And as I said, there are 4 different microphones.
Hello UI and Android 14:-
Now let’s talk about the Hello UI, which is available on Android 14. We talked to Motorola & they said that the updates will be timely.
We send it timely, so there’s no problem with that. They also said that there’ll be 3 years major updates & 4 years security updates. It also has a lot of AI features. One of the best thing, & this feature is going to be used increasingly. Especially in this form factor. You’ll be able to use Gemini on a small screen.
So long press on it & it’ll evoke Gemini. Let me show you. So here’s Gemini & you can talk to whatever you want to. It’ll take your call immediately & it’ll also answer it. Look at this, whatever I’m talking about. You’re asking about a tool or app that can answer your questions.
If so, I can tell you that there are many iPower chatbots. Enough, I don’t want to listen. Whatever I was talking about, because I invoked Gemini with just 1 button. You’ll be able to talk & it’ll become your companion. So many people are going to use it in the coming days. You can ask it anything you want.
It’s like a friend, so that’s good. It has an AI magic canvas & it works well. We’ve tested it in Edge 50 Ultra & Razer 50 Ultra. It comes with a wallpaper where you can generate text prompts. These things work well. It comes with RAM Boost 3.0, so you can increase the virtual RAM. Rest are all features like Moto Gesture, Smart Connect.
Smart Connect is seriously good. Because of that, flagship phones have 8-12GB of RAM. Because that AI should work. Smart Connect is excellent. If you have a Motorola phone, have you tried Smart Connect?
Connectivity Features:-
All connectivity options are there. And generally Motorola phones are good in terms of connectivity.
It has Wi-Fi 6E support, Bluetooth 5.4 & NFC. If you have 16 5G bands, then you can stay in India or abroad, you won’t face any issues with 5G bands. And as mentioned earlier, it has 1 physical sim & eSIM support. Alright, let’s move towards the camera. In comparison to the Razer 40, there’s definitely an improvement.
Camera: Versatile Features:-
In comparison to the Razer 50 Ultra, it has a 50MP primary sensor & a 13MP ultrawide sensor. Inside, you get a 32MP selfie sensor. I’ll tell you, there are many photos taken in different conditions.
If I talk about the features, then 2-3 things are good. Especially with Flip, if you’re shooting a video, then the camcorder mode really helps. You can zoom in & zoom out with just 1 thumb. You get an AI powered action shot, there’s smart colour segmentation. So, in terms of features, you have a lot of things.
Then you have slow motion video, photo, portrait, night mode, scan, spot colour, night vision mode, panorama, ultra resolution mode, dual capture, photo booth, tilt shift mode. Try the tilt shift mode if you haven’t tried it yet. It’s very interesting, you can do time lapse, spot colour, dual capture, you can use the front & back camera at the same time.
So, there are a lot of features. If I talk about the video, then you can shoot 4K 30FPS with both front & back. I forgot to tell you that the 13MP ultrawide camera is auto focus. So, you can shoot macro as well as ultrawide. It’s a multifunctional macro. But you don’t get HDR recording in the video.
Alright, let’s talk about the other features.
Water Resistance and Durability:-
Now, Razer 40 had IP54 certification, but now it has IPX8. So, you can use it without any worries in the rain. As I said, there’s NFC support, SAR values are within limits, and there’s a notification light. If I talk about the rain, then you get a smart water touch.
So, even if water falls, your touch will work properly. And there’s an important thing that’s important in foldable & flippable. How many folds & flips will there be? Motorola claims that you shouldn’t have any problems up to 4L fold.
Price and Value:-
Now, let me tell you about its price. Its price is Rs 64,999. You’ll get offers of Rs 10K, and an instant discount of Rs 5K. I’m showing you the details on the screen. But, it’s going to be on sale in the Great Indian Festival. So, you’ll get this price for the first 8-10 days. You’ll get this price for under Rs 50K.
It’s an effective price of Rs 49,999. So, that’s a great deal. I don’t know if it’ll be extended further, but you’ll get this price for the first 10 days. That, I’m pretty sure of. And if I talk about the price, one can say that its processor should’ve been a little powerful. But, again, I’ll say that it’s alright for the price.
Conclusion:-
Because, its form factor is flippable. Yes, it’s not focused on gaming or performance. It’s more of a lifestyle phone. Those who want a lifestyle phone & want to show off, this is definitely good for them. And overall, if I talk about the other features, the display is good, you have decent cameras as well.
And if I talk about the OS, the Hello UI is very clean & efficient. I’d say it’s a fluid UI & the updates are good. So, overall, this is a great phone if you get it for under Rs 50K. But, I definitely want to ask, if you want to buy a flip phone, what price range would you buy it in? Or, what’s the ideal price range for a decently powered flip phone? This is the Moto Razr 50, the base variant.
But, if you want a flagship level experience, then you should definitely look at the Moto Razr 50 Ultra.
